Privacy Policy
How Infonex (“we”, “us”) handles personal information when you use Fuby: the website, the dashboard, and the voice helper that businesses add to their own websites.
Talking to a Fuby helper on someone’s website? Your voice and the words you say are recorded and shared with that website’s owner. Jump to Website visitors.
Who this covers
- Customers: businesses and people who sign up to Fuby, set up a helper and add it to their website.
- Website visitors: people who talk to a Fuby helper on a customer’s website.
We follow the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). If you are in the EU or UK, the section on your rights explains how GDPR rights apply.
What we collect from customers
- Account details from Google sign-in: your name, email address and profile picture.
- What you teach your helper: its name, look, voice, greeting, your website address, up to 1,000 words of business information, and the page links you add.
- Billing details: your plan, subscription status and Stripe customer ID. Card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store them.
- Test calls you make while setting up. These go to our voice provider to generate replies but are not recorded or saved by us.
- Technical data: IP address (stored only as a salted one-way hash, for rate limiting), browser type and basic logs.
What we collect from website visitors
When you tap a Fuby helper on a website and agree to start, we collect the following on behalf of that website’s owner:
- An audio recording of the call, including your voice and the helper’s replies.
- A written transcript of what you and the helper said.
- Call details: the page you were on, the date and time, and how long the call lasted.
- A salted hash of your IP address, used only to stop abuse (rate limiting). We can’t turn it back into your IP address.
Before any recording starts, the helper tells you “This chat is recorded” and your browser asks for microphone permission. If you say no, nothing is recorded. You can hang up at any time, and calls end automatically after 5 minutes.
Please don’t share sensitive information such as health details, card numbers or passwords during a call. The helper doesn’t need them and can’t act on them.
The website owner is responsible for how they use your recording and transcript. For those, Infonex acts as their service provider (a “processor”). To access or delete a recording of you, contact the website owner. We will help them respond. You can also contact us directly at hello@fuby.ai.
How we use information
- To run Fuby: answer visitors by voice, show transcripts and recordings in the owner’s dashboard, and point visitors to the right page.
- To bill customers for talk time and keep track of minutes used.
- To keep the service safe: rate limiting, abuse prevention and fixing faults.
- To contact customers about their account, billing and important changes.
We do not sell personal information, use it for advertising, or use visitor recordings or transcripts to train AI models.
Who we share it with
We use these providers to run Fuby. Each only gets what it needs for its part:
| Provider | What for | Where |
|---|---|---|
| OpenAI | Live speech recognition and voice replies during calls | United States |
| Supabase | Database, sign-in and recording storage | Sydney, Australia |
| Vercel | Website and app hosting | Global edge network, United States |
| Stripe | Payments and subscriptions | Australia, United States |
| Customer sign-in | United States |
Under OpenAI’s API terms, audio and text sent through its API are not used to train its models by default and are kept for no more than 30 days for abuse monitoring. Some of these providers are overseas, so your information may be handled outside Australia. We choose providers with strong security and contractual privacy protections.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect people from harm.
How long we keep it
- Recordings and transcripts stay until the website owner deletes the helper or their account. Deleting a helper deletes its conversations and recordings.
- Account information stays while the account is open, and is deleted within 30 days of closing it. We keep billing records for as long as tax law requires, usually 5 years.
- Rate-limit records (hashed IPs) are only used for short time windows.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Recordings are stored privately and can only be opened through short-lived links by the account that owns them. Each customer can only see their own helpers and conversations. Our API keys are kept on our servers and never sent to browsers.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your personal information, or ask questions about how we handle it. Email hello@fuby.ai. We will reply within 30 days. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have rights to object, to restrict processing and to data portability.
If you’re unhappy with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au, or to your local data protection authority.
Children
Fuby accounts are for adults running a business. The helper isn’t designed for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children under 16 except where a visitor talks to a customer’s helper.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to keep you signed in. The website widget doesn’t set cookies on visitors’ browsers. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies.
Changes
If we make important changes to this policy, we’ll update the date at the top and tell customers by email or in the dashboard.
